Dr. Desiree D’Angelo-Donovan is a board-certified general surgeon who also specializes in the care of breast cancer and breast related diseases. Her area of expertise consists of a wide variety of procedures and diseases which include: surgical oncology, fine needle aspiration, port placement, genetic testing and counseling and the surgical management of breast disease.  She has obtained special certifications from The American Society of Breast Surgeons in ultrasound and stereotactic breast biopsies.

In addition to breast surgery, Dr. D’Angelo also performs general surgery procedures which include laparoscopic and open hernia repairs of all types, removal of skin cancers or other benign skin lesions as well as management of melanomas.  She also performs intra-abdominal surgeries like bowel resections, colon cancer procedures, and laparoscopic appendix and gallbladder removals.

Dr. D’Angelo performs colonoscopies for colon cancer screening and deals with the management of complex wounds.

Dr. D’Angelo completed her undergraduate education at West Chester University, obtaining degrees in biology and chemistry.  She then attended medical school at The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr. D’Angelo then went on to complete her general surgical training at Christiana Care Health System in Delaware, which is a Level-1 trauma hospital and has been repeatedly rated one of the “Best Hospitals” by U.S. News and World Report.  Dr. D’Angelo is board certified by the American Board of Surgery (ABS) and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).  She is an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBS).

Dr. D’Angelo grew up in Somers Point and attended both Jordan Road School and Mainland Regional High School.  She is passionate about taking care of and serving the community that helped raise her.
