Dr. Zitnay moved to Cape May Court House March 2010 and started with Cape Physicians Associates May 3, 2010. He is a graduate of Bowdoin College and earned his master's degree at Georgetown University. His medical education was completed at University of Virginia, he served his internship at University of Vermont and finished his internal medicine residency at University of Virginia (UVA). After working one year at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles in general medicine, Dr. Zitnay returned to UVA to complete his endocrinology fellowship. During his fellowship, he had several research papers published and served as Medical Director of the Charlottesville Free Clinic.
After fellowship, Dr. Zitnay worked as an endocrinologist in Washington, DC and returned to Charlottesville to practice endocrinology in his own solo practice. During this first year, he served as Medical Director of the John Jane Brain Injury Center.
Dr. Zitnay is a lecturer for diabetes and is a strong advocate of diabetes prevention and treatment. He is an expert with insulin pumps and has started many patients on them. He himself uses an insulin pump! He is a member of the American Diabetes Association, Endocrine Society, American College of Physicians, and American Medical Association.
Dr. Zitnay provides inpatient care at Cape Regional Medical Center.
